I don’t have favorites. I don’t have favorites. I don’t have favorites… but if I did, these two would be strong contenders for the title. Which I think is natural, I think, considering they’ve been one of my couples longer than any other. We shot their engagement session more than a year before their wedding, and met via Skype months before that. Growing close to a couple that has been on my “upcoming weddings” list for that long is only natural. Right? Fortunately for me, Sara has remained in my world since their November wedding and is now someone I consider a good friend. Sara has a laugh and a smile that is nothing short of infectious. She’s the type of person who finds joy in every part of life and her wedding day certainly was not an exception. Her #boothang, Clifton, is as silly as they come and compliments her well.
The two were married at Paris-Yates Chapel, on the campus of Ole Miss University in Oxford, Mississippi. Their gorgeous day was planned and coordinated by Kendall Pool Event Planning and Danny Klimetz of Danny K Photography joined me as my second shooter for the day.
Sara and Clifton opted to have a first look, because spending a lot of time with their guests at their reception was very important to them. Before seeing one another, however, Sara sent Clifton a note to read, which she had been working on all morning, to reflect her excitement over their wedding day and life together… and he had a note to read to her in return.
The weather and the light on their day was GORGEOUS!
Before you ask, yes, they’re twins… I’m looking forward (*hint*hint*) to photographing Kara’s wedding one day!!
After a morning of beautiful pictures, it was finally time for Sara and Clifton to say, “I do.” Paris-Yates Chapel is absolutely perfect, with it’s high ceiling, stained glass windows, and abundance of natural light.
As we waited for guests to arrive at their reception location, The Oxford University Club, we snapped a few more shots of the couple around Oxford Square. I always love traveling to new destinations and exploring the area with fresh eyes. Instead of feeling bound by shots that I know will work, I am able to be inspired by the lines, colors, textures, and character of the area itself.
The afternoon reception that followed was a perfect reflection of their personalities — lots of fun with just the right dose of tender moments.
Sara and Clifton, thank you so much for trusting me to tell the story of your love and for your continued friendship! #co11enpartyof2 #KPE #boothang #dannyk #shutthefrontdoor #iloveyall
