Cliffs of Negril Wedding : April + Brent

Brent moved to St. Louis, Missouri from Jamaica when he was 10 years old.  Most of his family still lives on the island, so he has always maintained a connection with his home country and travels back to visit often.  On one of those visits, during Spring Break, he met a girl…

April is from Virginia. She certainly never expected to meet the man of her dreams on a Spring Break trip. She met Brent. The two maintained a friendship, which turned into a long-distance relationship, that eventually led to Brent asking April to spend the rest of her life with him.

The decision to get married in Jamaica was an obvious one. For April and Brent, the choice felt less like committing to a destination wedding and more like planning to exchange their vows at their home away from home. For that reason, April did not want to have the typical resort wedding. She wanted something more intimate, something that felt more like “their” Jamaica and not just the tourist experience.  And so, they rented a gorgeous villa on the cliffs of Negril, and became husband and wife, over looking the beautiful blue waters, surrounded by their closest family and friends.

If getting married on a cliff in Jamaica wasn’t beautiful enough, it rained during their ceremony. Raining is never the thing you wish for on your wedding day, but it seriously added something pure and beautiful to their day. Plus, the Pastor assured us that the rain was a blessing, as Jamaicans consider rain to be good luck.

I love this next shot!! As a surprise for the guests, April and Brent had a fire eater perform during the reception. Look at those faces of horror!!

The day after their wedding, we headed into the surrounding city to capture more portraits, and wrapped up their wedding weekend with a Trash-the-Dress session. Be sure to check back tomorrow for Part II of their beautiful wedding! Xo
