I choose you. How perfect is it to find a person you share so much in common with that you can’t wait to choose to spend your life with that person? Chelsea and Gene, two police officers that enjoy life’s simplicities chose one another. They married in January, in a traditional wedding ceremony at Mountain View Gardens and Ballroom, where their love was the main attraction.
The two met in 2012 when Gene was hired to work at the same Police Department as Chelsea. They got closer when they were placed on the same patrol shift, but Chelsea did her best to not show interest. She wanted to avoid dating a co-worker. But her efforts failed… They got closer and eventually started dating.
She was already impressed with the support he offered her in their relationship, but after seeing Gene comfort her brother during a difficult time, her thoughts quickly changed from “I could marry him,” to “I want to marry him.”
Gene shared Chelsea’s desire to marry. On an ordinary day, Gene started taunting her with a jewelry bag. Suspecting that he had bought her a ring and that the ring was in the bag, Chelsea asked, “can I keep it?” In response Gene asked her to marry him. Of course she said, “yes!” Getting engaged on an ordinary day, while goofing around with your best friend was beautifully and simply romantic. It was a priceless moment for the couple.
Chelsea looks back on her wedding day with a smile, knowing it reflected the same sense of simple romance.
When asked what advice she would give to future brides she offered, “do what YOU want! Putting everyone else’s wishes and recommendations for the day isn’t easy, but you have to remember that it is your day… the day you’ll marry your best friend.”
