Looking for new ways to spend time together, my husband and I booked an online cooking class with Sur La Table. We wanted a class with dishes that would push us out of our comfort zone and teach us new techniques. We ended up learning to cook Thai noodles and to make fresh spring rolls with poached shrimp.
SLT sent the ingredient list and recipe in advance so that we could shop and have everything ready to go at the start of class. The class itself took place via zoom with more than 60 households logged in and learning alongside us. The instructor moved through the class at a pace that allowed us to cook with her, making sure everyone was ready to go before moving on to the next step.
Enjoying a glass of wine while Tyrus double-checked my knife skills (far more often than necessary) made for a great at-home date night. We were fans of the dish and with so many new pantry items (I’m looking at you, sweet soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and oyster sauce), we’ve already made the dish a second time.
We are looking forward to taking another in-home class in the future and giving an in-person class a try too!
