So, a quick backstory is necessary before I jump headfirst into Laureyan’s images. As most know, I am the proud mom of a wonderful four year old son. I love him and could not imagine my life without him, his obsession with the movie Cars, his jumps and leaps from every piece of furniture his little body can climb on, his giggles over various bodily functions… He is a true boy and my true love.

With that said, I admit that I wanted a girl. Of course, I wanted a healthy child (as all parents do) but, hoped that a life full of tea parties, mommy/daughter pedicures, and miniature kitchens was in my future.

Laureyan’s mom and I have known one another since college. She and I were pregnant at the same time, with due dates that were literally within two weeks of one another. During my session with Laureyan, I couldn’t help but revisit what life could have been like with a daughter.  However, with every lipgloss re-application, flip of the hair, and dramatized pout, I realized that my vision of raising a little girl wasn’t reality. Laureyan is beautiful. Smart. Funny. And most importantly, a diva.
