Melissa and Matt, in a lot of ways, had the type of wedding I hope to one day have for myself, small and intimate and completely reflective of their personality as a couple. As they said their vows, they were surrounded only by those people that unconditionally love them, those that will be by their side to celebrate every joy life brings them, and to pray for them when they face difficult times. Their intimate took place at Biltmore Estate, in Asheville, North Carolina. If you don’t know a lot about Biltmore or have never seen this incredible estate for yourself, I recommend that you plan a visit. The story behind the home and all that goes into maintaining it year-round are fascinating.
At the time of Melissa and Matt’s wedding, Biltmore was decorated for Christmas, which added to it’s splendor and beauty. Melissa wore a beautiful knee length gown with a fur shrug. Looking at the pictures now, it’s hard to believe it was below freezing and raining all day…
Melissa and Matt’s intimate, candlelit ceremony took place in a wine cellar in the Biltmore Winery. Immediately after the ceremony, I suggested a group shot of everyone in attendance, so that they could all look back and remember those that shared that special day. The entire group then went on a tour of the winery, followed by a wine tasting. I tagged a long and learned alot about how wine is made, from grape to bottle, and even got to taste a few of Biltmore’s signature wines.
The evening concluded with a dinner reception, where everyone sat around the same table, shared good food, good stories, and laughed the night away. There was so much warmth and love in the room. It was beautiful. And at the end of the night, when it was time for me to go, I was showered with hugs from members of both families… and a parting gift — a tin of butter cookies, made from Melissa’s grandmother’s recipe.
